Kayak Born auf dem Darß

We drove over the Rügenbrücke- absolutely worth seeing-  to Stralsund and from there to Born auf dem Darß. Perfect to watch cranes in September/October. The Bodden offered wonderfully calm waters for paddling and a beautiful sunset. We see, we don’t have to travel far, the North has wonderful places to offer!

Born a Darss3I found a good place to get the kayak into the water at the Kitesurf & Canoeing Center Born. We could take the car right down to the shore and launch the kayak on a small sand strip to water.

Postojna Cave

The caves of Postojna in Slovenia are the second largest caves in the world that are open for tourists and one of the few caves that are wheelchair accessible. A small train runs through the underground vaults, through tunnels and huge halls with various karst formations.

The train is narrow , but the last compartment has no seat and is large enough for a wheelchair. Even paths lead further into the caves  not a single step, but every now and then extremely steep and slippery. It is worth it though very impressive! Link to the cave: Postojna Cave

Treetop walk

Walking high above the treetops must be a great feeling, it’s possible here- most of the treetop paths are wheelchair accessible. It‘s a bit of work getting to the observation tower, but you will have a magnificent view from up there.

Auf Rügen, im Naturerbe Zentrum bei Prora (http://nezr.de/de/baumwipfelpfad/), geht es bis auf 40m hoch- mit vielen Erlebnisstationen rund um das Thema Natur.

On the isle Rügen, in the Natural Heritage Centre at prora (http://nezr.de/de/baumwipfelpfad/), the treetop walk goes up to 40m  with many interactive stations around the topic of nature.

Isle Vis- Diving in Komiza

The island Vis in the Croatian region of Dalmatia has beautiful beaches and little nice cities. It’s a great diving spot, since Croatia has an almost untouched underwater world. Even for wreck divers there are a couple ships to be explored. I went on two diving trips with Manta Diving in the city Komiza- from the boat into the sea. We had clear water with about 25m sight, lots of fish and met a small kalmar who stayed a little to play.

To get onto the boat, the divers had to climb over a stone (photos on the  Manta Diving Komiza website), but there was the possibility to swim to the back of the boat and be lifted on board and afterwards lifted into the sea with a small lift. The toilets were not accessible and the way to the diving center flat, but long and steep and not accessible by car. The diving center offered a pick up at the harbour to have access to the boat at ground level.
