A trip to Rio- Ipanema Beach and Copacabana

Ipanema Beach and Copacabana

What do you have in mind when you think about summer, sun and Rio? Of course- these two beaches. Taking a walk at the Copacabana while drinkin coconut juice directly from the fresh fruit or enjoying a caipirinha with a great sea view. Small cafes and open restaurants can be found every few hundred meters along the entire promenade. Just sit down and relax. We had good weather in September, occasional showers, but with pleasant temperatures.

Here is a small video of the beach promenade of Ipanema and Copacabana. In the background the mountain peaks of the „Two Brothers“.

Ipanema with its beach is one of the more upscale neighbourhoods of Rio. The beach is considered to be wild and is popular for surfers at one end. From Ipanema Beach, you can go straight to the Copacabana with its 4km long sandy beach.

The beach promenade with its typical black / white tiling is pretty even and easily accessible via the road through lowered curbs at the traffic lights. If you don’t want to walk all the way – plenty of cabs are available, friendly drivers and the cabs don’t cost much.

Now there is only sand between you and the sea.. . I travelled with the Smart Wheel from Molab which was pretty helpful throughout my journey- not only with the coconuts.

Before you start, make sure to first read the security recommendations for the city!
